‘Conversations on War’ explores how philosophers working on the ethics of war can draw on research in other areas of philosophy to improve our accounts of harming in war, and how research on the ethics of war might challenge or illuminate work in those other areas. So far, there have been two series: Complicity & Causation in War (2015-2016) and Morality Responsibility in War (2018-2019).

The first series focused on Complicity and Causation in War. The first event was jointly organised by the Stockholm Centre and the Centre for Ethics, Law and Public Affairs, University of Warwick, and was held 7-8th September 2015 in Venice. The second event was jointly organised by the Stockholm Centre and the Yeoh Tiong Lay Centre for Politics, Philosophy, and Law, Kings College London. It was held 22-23rd October 2016, in Palermo. The participants included Helen Frowe, Massimo Renzo, Francois Tanguay-Renaud, Helen Beebee, Adam Slavny, Lisa Hecht, Carolina Sartorio, Yitzhak Benbaji, Lars Christie, Jonathan Parry, Seth Lazar, Gustaf Arrhenius, and Jimmy Goodrich. The second series focused on Moral Responsibility in War. The first event was held in September 2018. The second event was held in September 2019, in Perast, Montenegro. The participants included Helen Frowe, Massimo Renzo, Victor Tadros, Carolina Sartorio, Yitzhak Benbaji, Hagit Benbaji, Gunnar Bjornsson, Gustaf Arrhenius, Ben Matheson, Dana Nelkin, Derk Pereboom, Romy Eskens, Jimmy Goodrich, Helen Beebee, and Alex Kaiserman.
